Kyi.
Kyi walked towards the huge oak doors that were where the Tarriene government official's meeting was taking place. He paused and thought about how far he'd come from the first time he entered these doors, when he was being warned about chaotic behavior that may jeopardize "New Tarriene objectives" and "Letting emotions cloud true judgment and instinct". Today, he was 'mayor' or such, of sector 37, captain of 'The Ten Knives' one of the most well known Tarriene government patrols, and the newest official to be entitled to the 'Higher Levels'.
He smiled, he had reached the top of the ladder, there was no higher than attempting to be the minister himself. Which he couldn't dream of, how could anyone ever replace Minister Sareeffe?
Kyi was still quite young at 31, and had entered the Tarriene army at the age of 14. He was well built, but slim with strong muscular arms; his army barcode upon his left wrist. He had shaggy brown hair and a fringe that almost completely hid his bright green eyes. Quite tall with a mature stance, to make up for his youthful appearance, Kyi was normally in a position to look down upon people. He had a laid back, but confident character. Years of being in the army had subdued his personality, & he lived the army life style, keeping no one but his men close.
Kyi pushed open the heavy doors with an empty ease, sighting the twenty other officials already seated at a long rich oak table. They applauded his upgrade of level.
"Official, K. Jasendah Tarrienity. As of today, you are one of the most powerful men in the whole of Tarriene." Said the minister's personal assistant.
"You have successfully unified over 50 different broken states, held peace in the most infested with Carge fighters sectors. And, if not the greatest feat...
"You've earned my trust." Spoke the minister himself. There was silence. "Now, let's settle you down somewhere then." He said with a humbled chuckle.
Kyi found himself confused. "Minister...? Settle me down?"
"Why of course, we're going to move you to sector 4, where the closest you'll have to come to a Carge they'll be cast in iron & chained to the ground, if you get what I mean." He winked at the officials who laughed nondescriptly at the joke.
"But Sire, what about sector 70? We're so close to a break through."
"Ahh yes, we are. And your team has done an amazing job, time to give you a reward, right? We'll bring Hadrek in to be the new captain."
"Umm... Ministers, thank you so much for all youre offering, but I don't mind fighting..."
"'course you don't, but you're a higher level now. You get special privileges." He said more or less winking to the rest of the officials.
Kyi thought about saying more, but remembered where he was and who he was speaking to. "Well, just remember where I am when I'm needed."
"Don't worry; this isn't retirement, just a... well earned rest"
Kyi let the murmurs die down, he felt this 'well earned rest' wasn't at all called for, but let his faith in the Tarriene subside his concerns. Picking up his notes, he waited eagerly for what he'd been waiting his entire army career to take part in. "Beyond plans". These were plans that only top officials were disclosed information on. Kyi had taken part in many top secret missions, but never one that had such an agenda beyond the general briefing. This time, when he stormed an enemy base for certain people or documents, he'd know what he was fighting for, why it was so important, finally a plan that he can throw back in the Carges' faces, a plan he could fully justify his actions by.
"Perfect timing to move up Jasendah, we're almost ready to move straight into action. You missed out on all that repetitive planning part we've been milling through for months." Spoke Sareeffe. "It's called 'Operation Turf', mainly as so many mole spies were needed on this one"
"I came up with the name! Piped an official eagerly.
"Yes Rutson, anyway we'll call in Rentom to get you up to scratch, as he's our key player in this plan." A twang of jealousy pulsed through Kyi. J Rentom was an upper official's son, so even though he was no older than 20 he got to take part in important missions, missions that Kyi had sifted through years of fighting and leadership to even earn knowledge of.
Rentom entered the hall, nodding slightly to his father and then altering his gaze to the minister.
"Good afternoon sire" Uttered the tall blonde youth with a glazed stare.
"Ahh... Rentom... When are you off base?" Off base was another word for going undercover, Tarriene army had 1000s of reworded phrases.
"Tomorrow sire...
Minister Sareeffe circled his hand to gesture he should go into more detail. "Operation Turf is the arranged, planned and organized capture of Captain Traken Shardez, self proclaimed leader of the living scum that is the Carge... Chuckles filtered through the elder officials... "..So the 'blending process' can begin."
Kyi looked up to General Sareeffe.
"That'll be all Rentom; I'll take it from here." Replied the general.
"Yes sire..." He said in his nasal, sneering tone, as he turned around and more or less drifted out the room.
"Blending?" Kyi asked, gauging the possibilities of its meaning.
"Well... More or less in the long run, we want rid of the old leaders so the new spawn of Carge... Can just... Be contained and registered into the Tarriene system. Without a head, the Carge will fall to pieces looking for a purpose and we shall give them one. And now, come to think of it, I've finally decided who should participate in one of the most important blending roles." Sareeffe nodded slightly towards Kyi and as the rest off the officials murmured in agreement, Kyi shifted his feet excitedly.
"Important?"
"The most...
Kyi smiled to himself and clenched his fists slightly, watching as an official placed another file before him.
